Gangtey Tshechu

Gangtey Tshechu is a three-day autumn festival held in the courtyard of Gangtey Monastery in the Phobjikha Valley, showcasing sacred mask dances alongside folk singing and dancing. The celebration concludes with Nguedup Langwa, a special blessing ritual for the people of Gangtey valley.

The festival holds spiritual importance for the local community, offering ceremonial blessings and connecting residents to Buddhist tradition. Its timing coincides with Wangdue Tshechu, another major Bhutanese celebration. Phobjikha Valley is also the winter habitat of the rare black-necked crane, making the region significant for both cultural and environmental reasons.
