Overview
This festival tour celebrates Punakha's rich cultural heritage through two significant festivals: the historical Punakha Drubchen, a dramatic reenactment of a 17th-century battle against Tibetan forces performed by local militia (pazaps) in traditional battle gear, and the Punakha Tshechu, introduced in 2005 to preserve Buddhist teachings. Both festivals honor Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, Bhutan's unifier.
